Judge Dawn Bergin has an undergraduate degree in finance and studied graduate level international business relations on a Rotary Scholarship at the Autonomous University of Madrid for one year. After receiving her law degree from the University of Virginia, she began working at Lewis and Roca in Phoenix. She practiced complex commercial and tort litigation there for 12 years, both as an associate and a partner. She left Lewis and Roca for a year and a half to serve as Associate General Counsel for Rural/Metro Corporation. There, she oversaw the company’s litigation in 26 states, participated in business negotiations and managed the company’s multiple layers of insurance. She was appointed to the bench in August 2007 and served approximately four years in the juvenile division, three years in the criminal division, and then rotated to the civil division in July 2014. She is also a member of the Civil Practice and Procedure Committee of the Arizona State Bar.
